I’m glad we stopped here for lunch on our way to Bryson City. Love the decor inside, service was great and food was yummy. Good selection of beers on tap. May be little pricey but enjoyed our visit.
Food is excellent! Waitress wasn't knowledgeable about gluten free items, but did go and check with the chef. She was so nice and friendly about it. I would definitely come back here again. Note: the trout dish is not enough by itself. Order another side to go with it. My husband ordered the jambalaya and it was incredible. He loved it. The atmosphere makes me want to redecorate my house to look more like the restaurant. I love the mix of wood and metal. It is very rustic chic with a very warm and cozy feel to it. The wait staff was awesome.
We've been to Root and Barrel only once, and that visit was an overall enjoyable experience. The food was hot, good, and served in a timely maner; drinks made well; nice ambiance; and friendly service from Kiley. We will visit the restaurant next time we're up visiting with my parents.
We came on a Sunday so they were only serving brunch. The decor is great and the food was pretty good too! Would definitely return to check out their dinner menu :-)
Especially recommend the pimento cheese appetizer... the short ribs entree is fantastic... and the carrot cake for dessert was delicious, moist, tasty - and the candied carrot chips area a delicious, crunchy touch. The selection of primarily local beers on tap is good too, along with a decent wine list and full bar.
